There is a $5.00 charge to attend this tryout.  Each player must provide their own workout clothes, baseball spikes, and glove.  GWCC Baseball will provide Baum bats, baseballs, and other needed equipment for use during the tryout.

Please inform any of your graduating seniors who you feel have been overlooked and you feel can play college level baseball.  Any interested players may contact Head Coach Rob Shabansky at 602-286-8215 or email him at shabansky@gatewaycc.edu.

To be eligible for the baseball try-outs, please have the student/ athlete contact Coach Shabansky so that their name can be placed on the tryout list.  Walk- ups will be allowed, however this provides GateWay with an idea of numbers attending.  Also, each participant will need to complete an Assumption of Risk Form and a Tryout Liability Waiver Form. If the student/athlete is under 18 years of age, a parent must also sign these forms. The two forms will be available the day of the tryout, can be picked up in advance at GWCC in the athletics office (MA-1133), or we can email the forms directly to them.  The form must be on hand and signed to be eligible to participate.

Please call or email with any questions.

While the season is over, Geckos still bring home awards

After forcing a third game against the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes last Saturday, the Geckos ended an extraordinary season with a close loss of 8-9. While they won't be advancing to the next stage of playoffs and nationals, the Geckos came away from the season with a shelf full of prestigious awards and huge goals for the next year.

Coach Rob Shabansky was recognized as 'Coach of the Year' by the Arizona Community College Athletics Association (ACCAC)
Doug Snover, Casey Maloney, and Josh Melendez made the Division II 1st Team and Alex Murrietta made the Division II 2nd Team. GateWay was the only team to have 3 players (the most of any school) make the Division II 1st Team.

In addition, Doug Snover and Josh Melendez both made the ACCAC 1st Team All-Conference and Casey Maloney made the ACCAC 2nd Team All-Conference.
