Performer Zarco Guerrero "Tickles Death's Funny Bone" at Nov. 2 Event
GateWay students, staff and community members are invited to celebrate the popular Latino holiday Dia de Los Muertos with a free performance by well-known artist Zarco Guerrero taking place at 11:30 a.m., Monday, November 2, at the Center for Student Life.
Guerrero, a well-known Arizona actor, playwright, mask-maker and sculptor, has been active in the local arts scene for more than 30 years. He is known for always placing a special emphasis on community activism and fostering better understanding of Native American and Latino arts. Among his many accolades, Guerrero has earned several local and national art awards, has been featured in TV specials, hosts his own one-man show in the U.S. and Mexico, and founded the non-profit group arts organization Xicanindio Artes, Inc.
During his performance at GateWay, Guerrero will delight the audience with a humorous and educational storytelling session about making fun of death and the Dia de Los Muertos celebration.
