GateWay Community College and Gecko Athletics invites you to grab your clubs and grab your friends for a unique night of food and fun at one of Scottsdale's finest golf courses.
Scrambling for Scholarships will benefit the talented student-athletes of GateWay Community College by raising funds for books, school supplies and sporting equipment.
You may register as an individual, double or foursome, or you can be a sponsor!
Our amazing, dedicated, intelligent and skilled student-athletes need your support and your financial assistance to make the most of their college experience!

2nd Annual Scrambling for Scholarships

Continental Golf Course
Two incoming Gecko softball players have received prestigous state scholarships to help fund their schooling at GateWay Community College. Lauren Irwin and Maria Casas have been awarded funds through the Arizona Softball Foundation Scholarship Program for their "outstanding academic and athletic pursues."
Irwin will enter GateWay as a sophomore, transferring from New Mexcio Highlands. Casas will be a freshman, coming from La Jolla High School. Both ladies were awarded $500 a piece.

The NJCAA National Office in Colorado Springs, Colo., announced on July 1 the names of the 2009-2010 NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American and Academic All-American awards as well as the 2010 Spring All-American Teams.
Several Gecko athletes were honored: three individuals were honored as Academic All-Americans, two were honored as Distinguished Academic All-Americans and the Men's Baseball team and Men's Golf team were both honored as 2010 Spring All-Academic Teams for having an average 3.02 GPA and 3.16 GPA respectively.
The athletes that were honored for their academic achievements were:

Attached is a list of locations athletes can go to get physicals, ranging from $30-$35, over 10 locations across the Valley.

On Friday, March 12, the Lady Gecko Softball team traveled to Tucson to play in the Tucson Invitational for the weekend. They played six games over the three days. The Lady Geckos won ALL six of their games, including a 20-0 win in the first game. Way to dominate ladies!

Late January, the Gateway Lady Gecko softball team played in their first tournament of the year! They traveled to Las Vegas, Nev. to gain experience and grow as a team. Even though the competition was tough, the team stayed positive and worked hard. The weekend was a great chance for the girls to grow as athletes and as teammates. It was a great start to a promising season. We are looking forward to see what these young ladies can accomplish in the season ahead.

GateWay Community College is proud to announce the return of women's golf to its Spring 2010 athletic line up! The new women's golf coach, Paul Manoogian, has been working hard to make this a historical season for GateWay and is currently looking for his all-star lineup. Any woman currently enrolled or looking to take classes in the spring is encouraged to join. All skill levels are welcome and scholarships are available!

A unique evening golf tournament fundraiser at Continental Golf Course to support GateWay athletes
Grab your clubs and join GateWay Community College for a unique night of food and fun at one of Scottsdale’s finest courses! The first ever Scrambling for Scholarships event will be held Saturday, September 19 and will feature dinner, a silent auction and a 9-hole round of night golf. Each player will receive their own glow-in-the-dark ball and a chance to win great prizes! The event will begin with dinner at 7 p.m. at Continental Golf Course, located at 7920 E Osborn Rd in Scottsdale. Proceeds from the event will help raise money for GateWay athletes.
As the expense of a college education continues to rise, it is imperative that scholarships are available for student athletes to help provide for books, school supplies and sporting equipment.
“This is a great opportunity to support your Geckos while having a great time with friends and family,” said Jaime Long, GateWay’s acting athletic director. “We have over 140 student athletes, many of which have difficulties affording the high price of school supplies. Our fundraising efforts are working to build a book scholarship to benefit these athletes.”
The cost to register for Scrambling for Scholarships is $45 per person and up to four people per group are allowed. Additional support is encouraged and there are three levels of sponsorship with incentives such as tournament registration, t-shirts and recognition in the Gecko Newsletter.
