Dear Coach,

My name is Kayla Havins and I am a senior at Perry High School in Chandler, Arizona.  I am sending you this letter to express an interest in Gateway Communitye College and your softball program.  I am in the process of completing an application for admissions and wanted to send you some additional information about me as a player.

Along with playing softball, I have played volleyball and have participated in high school rodeo.  In my free time, I enjoy hunting and fishing.  I am interested in becoming a veterinarian and starting the pre-vet program after graduation.

I play on my varsity softball team at Perry and also play on L’il Saints 18U club team.  I am a slapper and play outfield and 2nd.  Below I have sent you our 2009/2010 fall schedule and some additional information.  I have also included a link to my skills video.  I would love for you to come out and watch me play and see if I would be a fit for your program next year.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Kayla Havins

Coach,

Andee Payán is a senior, a diligent athlete and a fine individual. I am her golf coach, so I don't have specific stats about softball, but I can tell you that we often discuss softball enthusiastically. Today, Andee told me about how she feels like golf is having a positive effect on her confidence and ability to hit a softball!

During our demanding season, Andee is also playing on a softball team and working while maintaining her good academic standing. For a match, Andee will carry her bag for nine holes. This is not really a big deal, but a couple of times, Andee has played double-header softball games afterwards! Maybe that gives you an idea of her dedication, yet that is not really even what's best about Andee. She is a joy to coach because of her focus, integrity, kindness, politeness, effort and ability! She has progressed impressively this year.

I have also contacted the golf coach as nothing would please Andee more than being able to play both softball and golf in college.

Thank you for your consideration,

Kathleen Kimura-Williamson
